FASHIONS ON THE FIELD

Fashions on the Field showcase the glamour and style that is synonymous with country racing.

 

At the Burrandowan Picnic Races you will be given the opportunity to present your finest in trackside fashion!  Fashions on the Field offer entrants the chance to flaunt their racing style and win some fantastic prizes.

 

HOW TO ENTER

Between 10am and 12pm you will nominate yourself at the Fashions on the Field area.

Judges will select ten finalists for each category and each Top 10 will be presented to the crowd on stage where a winner and runner up will be chosen and announced.

[This excludes Judges Choices categories - winners only will take to the stage].

All participants must assemble at a nominated point 15 minutes before your category is judged. Entrants who have not presented themselves after their final call will forfeit their place in the competition.  Timings for each category will be published prior to Race Day. 

CATEGORIES

 

Best Dressed Classic Lady

  • Overall elegant statement with a timeless style & originality, displaying a distinct understanding of the interpretation of Race Wear

  • Appropriateness for the season (Autumn/Winter Racewear) and weather on the day

  • Attention to detail is essential with coordinated accessories complementing the outfit

  • Appropriate headwear is essential

Best Dressed Contemporary Lady

  • Incorporate current fashion trends with originality and style

  • Outfit should be appropriate for the season (Autumn/Winter Racewear) and weather on the day

  • Attention to detail is essential with coordinated accessories complementing the outfit

  • Contemporary headwear is essential

Best Dressed Gentleman

  • Should display an understanding of Race Day fashion rather than business look and be appropriate for the season and weather on the day

  • Accessorise with options such as a hat, cufflinks or pocket square

  • Display an awareness of current fashion trends when it comes to jackets, waistcoats and ties

Best Dressed Couple

  • Should be individually outstanding and make a coordinated pair

  • Men's outfit should include suit or jacket & tie

  • Women's must include headwear and complimentary seasonally suitable accessories

  • Both outfits should reflect current fashion trends and be suitable for the season and weather on the day

Best Headwear/Millinery

  • Should make a clear fashion statement while complementing the outfit

  • Should be individualised with original detail

  • Style and design should demonstrate originality and be suitable for the season and weather on the day

Vintage Lady

  • To celebrate 100 years of Burrandowan Picnic Races!

  • Think all the glitz and glamour of the Roaring 20's | Dirty 30's | Naughty 40's | Nifty 50's | Swinging 60's

 Judges Choice : Presentation

Judges Choice is a category selected prior to commencement of Fashion on the Field judging and a prize will be presented to the winners of each category.

  • Boy and Girl Under 13

  • Boy and Girl 13 - 17

Fashion from Afar

Burrandowan Picnic Race Club has been invited by Racing Queensland to partake in their Regionals Queensland Fashions on the Field Event : FASHION FROM AFAR!

Fashion from Afar competition will celebrate the age-old tradition of trackside style and celebrate modern millinery trends and head-to-toe style dressing and grooming.

Burrandowan FOTF judges will be sending one man & one woman to the Brisbane Final on Saturday 25 June at Eagle Farm Racecourse where they will have the chance of winning $2.5K!

JUDGES

A panel of four suitably qualified judges are selected prior to the Race Day.  Judges are selected independently from the Burrandowan Picnic Races Committee.  Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

 

Winners of each category will be photographed by our official photographer on the day.

Each entrant agrees that the Burrandowan Picnic Race Club may use the photographs taken in Fashions on the Field for any promotional, marketing & publicity purposes.  The Burrandowan Picnic Race Club may also use these photographs in any media without notice and without any fee paid to the entrant.
